Women’s Ensemble to sing in Sister City, Santa Fe de la Vega, Granada, Spain
The Santa Fe Women’s Ensemble
a 13-voice group founded in 1981 will be representing Santa Fe on a singing tour
of Spain, September 4 - 17. In addition to singing in Madrid, Seville and
Barcelona, they will perform in Granada. The beautiful music was specially
chosen by Director Dr. Linda Raney to resonate both with the Spanish audience
and in the performance venues.
A highlight of the trip
will be representing the City of Santa Fe when the Women’s Ensemble visits Santa
Fé de la Vega, Granada, our sister city since 1989. President Eisenhower’s idea
of sister cities “promotes peace through mutual respect, understanding and
cooperation—one individual, one community at a time.” And the Ensemble hopes to
promote peace through music. In Granada, they will sing a joint concert with a
local choir during which they will present proclamations of friendship from
Mayor David Coss and the City of Santa Fe, as well as gifts to the city
officials of Santa Fe de la Vega, Granada. For more information about the visit
contact Julie Kirk, Santa Fe Women’s Ensemble, 505-690-1829. For information
