La Farge Branch Library to re-open to the public on Wednesday, August 29, 2018

The La Farge Branch Library will re-open to the public at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, August 29, 2018. The La Farge Branch, 1730 Llano Street, has been closed due to flooding damage sustained in the City’s major storm in late July.

Books and other materials will be available at the branch as well as internet computer access.  On Wednesday, Books and Babies will return at 10:30 a.m., for children 6 months to two years and their caregivers. Other programming will return to its regular schedule.  To check on programs or other information on La Farge Branch, go to the Library’s calendar on its website www.santafelibrary.org.

Branch manager Kathryn Spangle stated, “The Santa Fe Public Library would like to thank our wonderful community for their support! The outpouring of assistance from people with offers of book donations and contributions to the Friends of the Santa Fe Public Library are heartwarming.  Donations from individuals, fundraising events at the Violet Crown Cinema and Casa Chimayo Restaurant, plus Rep. Ben Ray Lujan’s efforts to obtain and ship replacement books from the Library of Congress will bolster the children’s book collection.”

Library Director Patricia Hodapp thanked City workers for their hard efforts, “Santa Fe city workers and their long hours of cleaning and repairing the damage were appreciated. Not only did staff and volunteers help the night of the storm, they have worked tirelessly to get the branch ready to open.”

La Farge Branch safely passed air quality testing performed by Havona Environmental and Keers Remediation which allowed the branch to reopen.

Last week, we visited the National Night Out on the Plaza and gave away over 100 books. We’ll be visiting other locations in the coming weeks so keep your eyes open!
