The City of Santa Fe Arts Commission is pleased to announce a call for entries
for “Common Ground,” the City’s annual art prize and exhibition in the Community
Gallery. Participation is open to amateur and professional artists aged 18 years
or older who reside in Santa Fe County. Framed two-dimensional works and
three-dimensional objects are eligible for entry, and all entries will be judged
by a committee of Arts Commissioners, artists and arts professionals. The top
three entries will receive an honorarium for the use of their artwork, with the
Best of Show receiving a $1,000 cash prize and 1st place and
2nd place receiving $500 and $250 respectively. The Best of Show will
also be reproduced as the 2013 City of Santa Fe notecard.
The deadline
for receipt of entry forms is Monday, September 16, 2013. Due to the popularity
of “Common Ground” and limited exhibition space, entries will be accepted on a
first-come, first-served basis, with up to 80 entries accepted for
participation. Entry forms, rules and requirements and complete information
about the exhibit and prize are available at the Arts Commission website, www.SantaFeArtsCommission.org,
under the “Common Ground: City of Santa Fe Exhibit & Prize” page. The
“Common Ground” Exhibit will open at the Community Gallery, located inside the
Santa Fe Community Convention Center, on October 25, 2013 and run through
November 8, 2013.
“We look
forward to receiving a wide variety of work for this year’s “Common Ground”
exhibition,” says Julie Bystrom, Project Specialist for the Arts Commission.
“This venue always provides a special way to showcase local artists and
recognize exceptional talent in Santa Fe’s unique artistic
community.”
