Santa Fe's Green Chile Cheeseburger Smackdown

Santa Fe is home to some of the best food and restaurants in the world! By far one of the most delicious local indulgences is the famous green chile cheeseburger. So who makes the best green chile cheeseburger in the City Different? The Santa Fe Convention and Visitors Bureau in partnership with the Santa Fe Farmers Market and the Santa Fe Restaurant Association is sponsoring the Santa Fe Green Chile Cheeseburger Smackdown where the top seven restaurants will compete head to head for the right to call their creation the best green chile cheeseburger in Santa Fe.
The event will take place at 10:30 am on September 7, 2013 at the north end of the Railyard along Market Street and Manhattan Avenue. It will take place during the Santa Fe Farmer's Market Green Chile Harvest Festival and the winner will be determined by six judges. The judges experience with burgers range from cookbook authors to food critics. In addition to the overall winner, a People's Choice Award will be determined by popular vote with all seven finalists providing burger bites to those purchasing a ticket to the Smackdown. Tickets to sample and vote are $15 and can be purchased on the day of the event.

In one month more than 50,000 Santa Fe burger fans cast their votes in the online Green Chile Cheeseburger Smackdown contest. The six finalists are:
However, there is still hope for one of the other dozen restaurants to seek redemption. In August KOB FM Morning Mayhem show host Carlos Duran will lead two live, green chile cheeseburger crawls to taste the remaining burgers that did not get nominated. He will then choose a "Lucky #7" finalist to compete in the finals on September 7. The crawl will be carried live on KOB 93.3 on Tuesday, August 13 from 11:00 am-2:00 pm and Friday, August 16 from 5:00pm-8:00pm. The Lucky #7 winner will be announced on the Morning Mayhem show on Monday, August 26.

So come out to the Railyard on September 7 and take part in Santa Fe green chile cheeseburger history!
