Sometimes it just takes one person to start a reading jag for a whole office or group. Recently a City office manager picked up a book by Stephenie Meyer and became so engrossed in it, and raved about it so much, her entire department started reading the series. When they could not find enough copies of Twilight, the first in the series, some skipped to later books in the series, but with a vow to NOT reveal any secrets. This was an all-woman endeavor, but now they have captured the interest of a male colleague. On breaks, they discuss the actions and details that they can without ruining the books for others.
I am not sure organized book groups have such dedicated readers! One can see the popularity of Oprah’s Book Club or the One City/One Book project, but neither have generated such dedicated readers that I know of. So now the question is, as they are nearing the end of the series, what to read next?
This blog would welcome suggestions.
