Spanish/Bi-Lingual Books and Babies Program comes to Southside Branch Library

The popular Santa Fe Public Library’s Books and Babies program presenter Dahlia Cummings is joining forces with Sarah Amador-Guzman, a bilingual presenter, to create a new Spanish/Bilingual Books and Babies Program at the Southside Library, 6599 Jaguar Drive.  Beginning March 12th, the program will run for six consecutive Saturdays until April 16th, and will feature songs, books and hand rhymes mostly in Spanish!  The program will be held at 11:00 am and lasts approximately one half hour.  Children ages 6 months to two years are the participants for this new program. The program is free and welcomes all caregivers and children in this age group.

Each week will be organized around a theme that is both appropriate for babies 6 months old to 2 years old and engaging for the caregivers who bring them. If you don’t know about the Books and Babies program, ask at the Library or talk to your neighbors about the program.  Dahlia shares that, “Everyone loves the program and quickly finds out that Books and Babies attendees are a very welcoming and positive community building  and fun group! The babies quickly become friends and everyone enjoys the songs, finger-plays, and stories”.

The regular Books and Babies program will continue on Thursdays at Southside Library at 10:45-11:15 am. This is the ninth year of the popular Books and Babies program.

Ms. Guzman is originally from El Paso, TX and graduated from New Mexico State University. She worked as a Home-based counselor for at-risk youth and families before moving back to New Mexico in 2011.  Ms. Guzman is a business owner and full time mother.

The Program is funded by the Brindle Foundation and the Anonymous Books and Babies Fund.
