The Collings Foundation
brought four WWII warbirds to Santa
Fe, from April
10th through April 12th. These planes are rare (and
impressive!) in that they are still in flying condition. A B-24J, a B-17G, a
Messerschmitt ME 262 jet, and a P-51C Mustang were on display at the
Santa
Fe Municipal Airport.
All the planes are
painted in original colors of the time. One photo shows the cockpit of the
B-17G. Visiting them was like stepping into 1945 for a brief
while.
This year, these planes
are on tour, visiting 130 cities in America. A good reminder of
all that was at stake and what was accomplished by the Greatest
Generation!
