Santa Fe Creative Tourism, a program of the City of Santa Fe Arts Commission,
will be offering a series of artist professional development classes and
one-on-one consultations by appointment in the Arts Commission’s Community
Gallery located inside the Santa Fe Community Convention Center, 201 W. Marcy
St. The Creative Tourism effort was born through Santa Fe's 2005 UNESCO Creative
Cities designation and the subsequent International Conference on Creative
Tourism, hosted in 2008. Since its inception, Santa Fe Creative Tourism has been
building the infrastructure to facilitate and promote awareness of creative
tourism in our city via a website, www.santafecreativetourism.com,
which links visitors to local arts businesses offering interactive
workshops
The classes will
take place March 26 through June 4, 2013. Sessions will include how to
participate in the Santa Fe Creative Tourism program, increasing web presence,
savvy social media usage, and other business development topics, as well as an
interactive workshop on pricing artwork. The classes will include a combination
of lectures and demonstrations. The consultation appointments are offered to
artists, artisans, and craftsmen interested in working with the Creative Tourism
program.

One-on-One
Consultations:
Artists, artisans,
and craftsmen who offer workshops and classes for the public within Santa Fe
county are invited to sign up for a free consultation on Internet marketing.
Consultations on creating websites and blogs as well as using social networks
and other Internet marketing strategies are being offered free to small
arts-related businesses interested in finding workshop customers through
www.SantaFeCreativeTourism.org. Consultation
appointments are available Tuesdays 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. starting March 26, 2013,

The City’s
marketing of Creative Tourism is centered on the website www.santafecreativetourism.org. Listings are free
to local art businesses that offer a hands-on workshop, class, or experience.
Those wishing to place a listing should visit the site and see the tab titled
“Get Listed.” The website is actively marketed through a blog, newsletter, and
other websites.
The City of Santa
Fe Arts Commission is continuing to work with artists and arts businesses to
further develop the organization and promotion of workshops that allow visitors
to experience Santa Fe in a hands-on fashion. Partnerships and collaborations
with the hospitality industry and other entities are welcomed, such as artist
residencies and shared promotional opportunities. This initiative was created as
a result of the city of Santa Fe’s 2005 appointment to the UNESCO Creative
Cities Network and builds upon the successful 2008 International Conference on
Creative Tourism held in Santa Fe.
The City of Santa
Fe Arts Commission (SFAC), an agency within the municipal government of the City
of Santa Fe, provides leadership by and for City government in supporting arts
