Santa Fe City Clerk Announces that Mayor and City Councilor Candidate Packets are Available Tuesday, September 3, 2013 for the March 2014 Regular Election

Santa Fe City Clerk, Yolanda Vigil announces that Mayor and City Councilor Candidate Packets for the City of Santa Fe’s March 4, 2014 Regular Municipal Election, will be available beginning at 8:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 3, 2013 in the office of the City Clerk, Room 215, 200 Lincoln Avenue, Santa Fe. Included in the candidate packets are nominating petitions as well as all forms relating to Public Campaign Financing.

Section 4.03 of the City of Santa Fe Municipal Charter requires candidates for the elected offices of Mayor and City Councilor in each of the city’s four districts to submit nominating petitions containing a specified number of valid names, addresses and signatures to be placed on the ballot as follows:

For Mayor: Any person wishing to be a candidate for the office of Mayor shall file with the City Clerk a nominating petition containing the signatures of at least one-half of one percent of the registered voters of the City.

For City Councilor: Any person wishing to be a candidate for the office of City Councilor shall file with the City Clerk a nominating petition containing the signatures of at least one-half of one percent of the registered voters of the district which the candidate seeks to represent.

Candidates for the above listed offices may collect nominating petition signatures, on forms provided by the City Clerk, between September 3, 2013 and November 2, 2013.

Any candidate for Mayor or City Councilor may qualify as a participating candidate eligible to receive payments from the Public Campaign Finance Fund. Participating Candidates shall collect the requisite number of five dollar ($5.00) qualifying contributions as follows:

Mayor Candidates: Six hundred (600) five dollar ($5.00) qualifying contributions from separate City of Santa Fe qualified electors.

City Councilor Candidates: One hundred fifty (150) five dollar ($5.00) qualifying contributions from separate qualified electors registered to vote in the council district in which the candidate is running.

Candidates for the above listed offices may collect qualifying contributions, on forms provided by the City Clerk, between September 3, 2013 and November 18, 2013.
