Top Biographies Again (Local Version)

Another way of looking at most-popular-biographies (see yesterday's post) is to find out which titles have circulated the most here in Santa Fe. Looking at the numbers collected since we automated in 1988, the highest demand biography/ autobiography/ memoirs are very indicitave of local interests: half are Santa Fe and Southwestern titles--including TWO books about Mabel Dodge Luhan, a memoir and a biography--:

• The house at Otowi Bridge; the story of Edith Warner and Los Alamos / Peggy Pond Church
• Mabel : a biography of Mabel Dodge Luhan / by Emily Hahn
• Lamy of Santa Fe, his life and times / Paul Horgan
• Anne Frank : the diary of a Young Girl
• The writing life / Annie Dillard
• John Adams / David McCullough
• The last conquistador : Juan de Oñate and the settling of the far Southwest / Marc Simmons
• Naked / David Sedaris
• Lincoln : a photobiography / Russell Freedman
• Galileo's daughter : a historical memoir of science, faith, and love / Dava Sobel
• Edge of Taos Desert : an escape to reality / Mabel Dodge Luhan

       Only one of these titles, Anne Frank's diary, was in yesterday's list of biographies that the most libraries own.
