GRANDPARENTS NIGHT:
Saturday, July 14, 6-10PM. Enjoy an
intergenerational evening at the Midtown Campus Bandstand (formerly Santa Fe
University of Art and Design; accessible from 1600 St. Michaels Drive or Alumni
Drive, opposite Yucca Street and Siringo Road). Celebrate The Center for
Contemporary Art reviving The Screen on campus, bring your grandparents or just
come out to a free outdoor showing of the classic "Willy Wonka and the Chocolate
Factory"! There will be food trucks, activities provided
by Santa Fe Community College and Axle Contemporary and fun for the whole
family including Swing dance lessons. Free camping chairs to the first 50
families! Free popcorn from Parks and Recreation and free soft drinks provided
by Coca-Cola Bottling Company of Santa Fe.
"Willy Wonka and the
Chocolate Factory" is "the best film of its sort since "The
Wizard of Oz"...delightful, funny, scary, exciting, and most of all, a
genuine work of imagination. A surely and wonderfully spun fantasy" according
to film critic Roger Ebert. Gene Wilder starts as Willy Wonka and Jack
Albertson as the loving grandfather. (1971) The film will begin at 8:30 p.m.
