La Farge Branch Closed until further notice

The La Farge Branch Library, 1730 Llano Street, will be closed to the public indefinitely due to flood damage.  The building sustained flooding in several sections of the Library.
The City is assessing the damages including the condition of books and other materials.
The City will reopen the Branch as soon as necessary repairs can  be accomplished.
Until the La Farge Branch reopens, patrons are asked to return checked out materials to Southside or the Main Library. The La Farge book drop will not be available. No holds will be filled from the La Farge collection; patrons will be notified where to pick up holds.
During this time no Library programs or programs scheduled by the public in the La Farge Community Room will be held.
Thank you for your patience and understanding of this situation.
Both the Main Library, 145 Washington Avenue, 955-6781 and Southside Library, 6599 Jaguar, 955-2820,  are open and will maintain regular hours.

Main Library Bicycle Winners

Congratulations to all the lucky winners of bicycles for our Libraries Rock! 2018 Summer Reading Program! Here are a few pictures of the winners at the Main Library:





La Farge re-opening at noon today but Children's Dept. will remain closed until repairs are finished


The La Farge Branch will be closed until NOON today, Wednesday, July 25 to complete overall  repairs to damage from flooding and ensure that all areas of the building are safe for our patrons and staff.  Library hours open to the public will be Noon to 8:00pm.
Both Main Library and Southside will be open regular hours.

When the branch opens at NOON, the children’s area will remain closed to complete repairs and organize the area. It is planned that the Children’s area will re-open on Thursday for regular hours starting at 10:00 am.

La Farge Cleanup Efforts

Staff and City Workers continue with cleanup efforts at the La Farge Branch from the flooding caused by last night's storm. La Farge sustained damage to 1500 children's books, at an estimate of $37,000 in losses. 

Donations can be made to the Friends of the Santa Fe Public Library, note that your donation is for  La Farge children's books.
Donations may be sent to the Main Library, 145 Washington Avenue, Santa Fe, NM  87501.

The La Farge Library extends special and heartfelt thanks to these patrons who stepped up to help stem the flood waters and help save books on Tuesday in the storm:

Summer Reading Parties for participants, July 20-22

Downtown Street Closures for the National Governor's Association Conference, Thursday, July 19 at 8 p.m. until Saturday, July 21 at 5 p.m.

The following streets will be closed beginning Thursday at 8:00pm:

Federal from Lincoln to Grant.
Grant from Paseo de Peralta to Griffin.
Marcy from Lincoln to Grant.

They will re-open Saturday at 5:00pm. 

The Sheridan Transit Center is being temporarily relocated to the corner of Alameda and Sandoval, the same location used for other downtown events that require Sheridan to be closed. The bus schedule will not be affected.


The city of Santa Fe apologizes for any inconvenience this may cause residents and visitors alike.

Summer Reading 2018: Peace Pets, July 13-15

GRANDPARENTS NIGHT: Saturday, July 14, 6-10PM. Enjoy an intergenerational evening at the Midtown Campus Bandstand (formerly Santa Fe University of Art and Design; accessible from 1600 St. Michaels Drive or Alumni Drive, opposite Yucca Street and Siringo Road). Celebrate The Center for Contemporary Art reviving The Screen on campus, bring your grandparents or just come out to a free outdoor showing of the classic "Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory"! There will be food trucks, activities provided by Santa Fe Community College and Axle Contemporary and fun for the whole family including Swing dance lessons. Free camping chairs to the first 50 families! Free popcorn from Parks and Recreation and free soft drinks provided by Coca-Cola Bottling Company of Santa Fe.
