Santa Fe Book Arts Group (BAG) www.santafebag.org
Free, Open to the Public
Friday, March 10, 2017, 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Santa Fe Community College Boardroom (Main Building)
6401 Richards Ave, Santa Fe, NM 87508

Karen Hanmer will discuss how her interest in history and the history of the book inspires and informs her work. Her artist-made books are physical manifestations of personal essays intertwining history, culture, politics, science, and technology. She utilizes both traditional and contemporary book structures, and the work is often playful in content or format.
Karen won the jury prize for binding in the 2009 Helen Warren DeGolyer American Bookbinding Competition. She is one of only eight graduates of the American Academy of Bookbinding’s Fine Binding program and she has studied with many notable fine binders. She is the author of Contemporary Paper Bindings: A Guide To Bookbinding Techniques, Tools, and Materials. More information: http://www.karenhanmer.com
