Holiday Lighting this Friday on the Plaza

The Santa Fe Plaza is beautiful through every season, but it is particularly stunning the evening after Thanksgiving. Mayor David Coss and members of the Governing Body will officially kick-off the holiday season by flipping the switch that illuminates thousands of twinkling lights at the Plaza on Friday, November 23. City Parks crews have been stringing the lights for nearly a month, and will take them down in early January.

The festivities begin at 3:00 p.m. with Poet Laureate Jon Davis reciting Christmas poems; entertainment begins at 3:30 until the lights go on at about 5:45 p.m. Santa and Mrs. Claus will make a guest appearance around 4:00 p.m. After the lighting ceremony, local bands Sol Fire, Solera, and musician Ryan Montaño will entertain the crowd. Girl Scouts will be selling hot cider, cookies and hot chocolate.
