On Wednesday, December 10,  at 5:00 pm, the Mayor will honor the Friends of the Library with a Muchas Gracias Award In honor of their 40th Anniversary.  Please plan to attend. City Council meetings begin at 5:00 pm at City Hall, Councilors Chambers.

City of Santa Fe Muchas Gracias for the
40th Anniversary of the
Friends of the Santa Fe Public Library

Since 1974, the non-profit Friends of the Santa Fe Public Library has helped to support the Santa Fe Public Library by raising money to provide the resources for additional programming, much-needed materials and equipment, support for children’s summer reading and other programs, and special events throughout the year. The Friends commit their time and resources to preserve and enhance our libraries for generations today and tomorrow because they understand the critical importance of a well-funded library to our community.  In the past year, from July 2013 through June 2014, a total of 119 Friends volunteers contributed 9,425 hours of their time to support the Santa Fe Public Library.

Now, therefore, in honor of their fortieth anniversary and forty years of service to the community of Santa Fe, the City of Santa Fe presents this Muchas Gracias Award to the Friends of the Santa Fe Public Library.

Today is #GIVINGTUESDAY

The Friends of the Santa Fe Public Library have joined #GivingTuesday, a new national day dedicated to giving, similar to the way Black Friday and Cyber Monday have become days that are synonymous with holiday shopping.

The Friends are an independent non-profit organization whose mission is to support the public library by providing funding, advocacy, programming, services, and materials that enrich the diverse community it serves. Virtually every penny donated to the Friends of the Santa Fe Public Library directly supports:
  • Expanded materials collections, including audio and video titles, electronic databases, books in Spanish, language programs, large print books, audio books, and e-books.
  • Children and family programs such as the summer reading program, after school programs, pre-school story times, and Books and Babies.
  • Author presentations and lectures
We hope you will join us by making a tax-deductible contribution on December 2nd to demonstrate your support for the Santa Fe Public Library.

There are two easy ways to make your GivingTuesday donation:
  1. Donate online
  2. Mail your check payable to “Friends of the Santa Fe Public Library.”
