Thirty percent of all
catalog searches which come in off the Web are done between the hours of 9 PM and 10 AM. It pleases us to think about people sitting at home in their bunny slippers, at midnight and at 5 AM, rummaging around the catalog: searching for books and videos, reading reviews, placing holds, searching the
magazine databases, planning their next trip to the library.
P.S. Before I bought my first computer (it was a used Tandy), I read shopping advice that said to make a list of what you wanted the computer to be able to do. Item #1 on my list: access to library catalogs in the middle of the night.
