The
World Health Organization has declared May 31st "
World No Tobacco Day". They encourage all tobacco users to give it up, if only for a day. Their focus this year is on
pictorial warnings on cigarette packages, so instead of the usual warning from the Surgeon General, now you get to see what cancer-ridden gums look like.
Slate has a neat slide show depicting
smokers around the world for the occasion. Depending on where you fall on the tobacco spectrum, it will either make today an easy, smoke-free day, or make you want to forget that you ever saw those other
gum pictures.
