Mayor David Coss has invited the whole community to read Barbara Ehrenreich's Nickel and dimed : on (not) getting by in America this winter (January—March 2007) for Read on Santa Fe! Santa Fe's First Annual Community Read. The mayor says "Nickel and Dimed is about changing the way America perceives its working poor. Santa Fe is proud of its accomplishments to support working families. This community read is a great way for Santa Feans to continue the discussion of how to deal with the very serious issue of poverty in our community."The City will host a series of related community events in March 2007 including discussions and films. Come by the library to pick up a copy of the bookmark (right) with some suggested additional reading.
